Please describe your craft: Original, contemporary handmade jewelry using Sterling Silver, 14K gold, precious and semiprecious stones and beads. Many different methods are used to create a piece including piercing, forming, marriage of metals, casting and fabrication.
How did you get started in your craft? By accident. After receiving a BA in Studio Arts from the College of Charleston, I went to the Savannah College of Art and Design for graphic/fashion design. All the classes in those areas were full, but there were some jewelry classes open. I took it for fun and never looked back.
What inspires your work? Movement, color combinations, pure design. Many different things inspire me. What I appreciate most is what moves me: the sentimental value attached to jewelry whether it be a sweet 16 birthday, anniversary, wedding, baby, etc.
What would you like customers to know about you and your background?
Please list any selling tips that might encourage a customer to purchase your craft (such as function, ease of care, cleaning, safety, etc.): I take commissioned orders, especially wedding and bridesmaid's gifts. I can lengthen or shorten most pieces to create a better fit if needed. | |||
